When you run a sale, Appy: Discount, Sales and Profits will run through all your products and apply the discount you've selected putting the current price in the "Compare At" field.
When a customer visits your store and looks at a product the new price will be displayed along with the old price enticing the user while your product has big savings. As the price is manually reduced, customers won't miss out on offers because they forgot to use a discount code.
